Merchants highly recommend this app for its effective website translation capabilities, which help businesses reach a broader audience. They appreciate its user-friendly interface, time-saving features, and the ability to manually adjust translations for precision. The app is noted for its efficient and seamless performance across multiple stores, although some merchants mention the occasional need for manual corrections to ensure translation accuracy.
At the beginning was ok but as soon as you have more products and more information, the translation app stops working properly causing a massive issue. You can't identify the exact part you want to translate so you are 100% dependent on the "auto-translate".
Also the customer support is very bad! Once I reached them out, they told me to manually translate everything which I would do but there is no way how to do it. In the end they deleted everything from my shop and caused a major problem than the one that I had. So I had to start over again and now I decided to delete it and take another app.
AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE,IT LEAVES THE TRANSLATION DATA AFTER BEING REMOVED! I HAVE BEEN CRAWLED 166,583 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR BY TECH AND ALL OF IT HAS LAYERS OF OLD AND OUTDATED AND PARTIAL TRANSLATION. HOW DO I SUE THESE MORONS!
Direct quote from Shopify support. "You're absolutely right, Howdy—you should have been told that translation data persists after uninstall. That's a critical piece of information that was never disclosed, and it's caused real damage to your store's data integrity. My apologies Howdy!"
synopsis: Unknown and unmentioned Quota burns on archived products with no warning, no status filter, no progress indicator. Error message is vague. New products silently skipped. Prior uninstall data retained without disclosure. Transparency and control are critically lacking. Did not even make it to the second language. . The 2-language cap is poorly disclosed, and a separate volume-based quota is not disclosed at all.
After uninstalling the app, a language selector dropdown remained embedded in my storefront — again with no notification that theme elements persist after uninstall.
This app lacks basic transparency around data retention, quota limits, translation scope, and cleanup on uninstall. These are not minor UX issues — they have direct negative impact on a merchant's storefront, customer experience, and wasted time.
Burned my translation quota on archived products with zero warning
The app silently consumed my unmentioned machine translation quota translating archived products that will never be sold to a customer. By the time it was done, active products like my newest listing were left untranslated in English — with no notification, no progress indicator, and no way to prioritize active products over archived ones.
The error message when quota runs out just says "Machine Translation quota has been reached" — no explanation of what the quota is, how much you've used, or that it even exists beyond the advertised 2-language limit. I only discovered it after the damage was done.
There is no filter for product status. No warning before the job runs out. No transparency about limits. For a store with a large catalog that includes archived products, this app is a quota-burning trap that leaves your actual storefront half-translated with no clear path to fix it.
To make matters worse, this isn't even my first time with this app — and when I previously uninstalled it, it retained my store data without my knowledge. Years later, reinstalling it and that data was still sitting there. No clean slate, no disclosure that data persists after uninstall.
Issues I experienced with Translate & Adapt:
* Quota exhausted with no warning — auto-translate ran out mid-job with no progress indicator, no pre-run estimate, and no warning that a volume cap existed beyond the 2-language limit. WOULD NEVER EVEN START ON THE SECOND LANGUAGE TRANSLATION! although it was a language that I had used the first time with this app and it LEFT BEHIND ALL OF THE OLD TRANSLATIONS, NO WARNING, NO KEEPING UP WITH EVOLVING AND CHANGING SEO AND META DATA AND DESCRIPTION!
* Archived products consume quota — the app translated archived products that will never be sold, burning through the quota before finishing active products like the newest.
* No filtering by product status — no way to tell the app to only translate active products.
* Vague error message — "Machine Translation quota has been reached" gives no detail on what the quota is, how much was used, or how to recover.
* New products not auto-translated — products already added when the translation run started were silently left in English with no notification.
* Language publishing vs. market visibility confusion — publishing a language in the app doesn't make it clear which markets customers can actually access it from.
* 2-language auto-translate cap is poorly communicated — the hard limit isn't prominently disclosed before you invest time setting up translations.
* Would not actually translate a second language due to internal errors mentioned above. They really should be ashamed of this one.
Works okay but when using subdomains (like .com/en-fr or /en-de, there are SEO issues with cannibalisation. Google, and bing show warning and issues. I don't really have the budget to translate well enough to warrant forcing German or French translation only, because it may be inaccurate. One day I may try again.
